This 1 day course is aimed at ensuring personnel who attach loads to hooks are aware of the risks involved and how to manage those risks. Offshore personnel may find this course particularly useful although it is suitable for anyone involved in lifting operations. The course also covers LOLER/PUWER/HASAWA and BS7121 requirements. Delegates will be able to identify the following:

- Codes of Practice BS7121
- Roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in lifting operations
- Certification of lifting accessories
- Slinging techniques
- Down rating of accessories
- Sling angles and the affect on SWL

- selection and pre-use inspection of accessories
- Attaching accessories to loads
- Signalling for lifting, transferring and positioning of loads (Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals Regulations) 1996)
